At Scalp Doctor®, we are dedicated to helping you rediscover confidence and transform your appearance with the revolutionary technique of Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). Our expert team of SMP specialists is passionate about providing personalised solutions to address hair loss concerns and deliver natural-looking results.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a cutting-edge cosmetic procedure that offers a non-surgical solution for hair loss. It involves the precise application of specialised pigments to the scalp, creating the illusion of hair follicles and enhancing the appearance of density, hairline, and overall scalp aesthetics. SMP is suitable for both men and women with various types of hair loss, including pattern baldness, thinning hair, receding hairlines, and scars.

How does SMP work?

Our highly skilled SMP specialists use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to deliver outstanding results. During the SMP process, micro-needles are used to deposit pigments into the scalp’s upper dermal layer. By carefully adjusting the pigmentation colour, density, and angle, our experts create realistic simulations of hair follicles, blending seamlessly with your existing hair. The result is a natural-looking and long-lasting solution that restores the appearance of a fuller head of hair or a well-defined hairline.

Balding Of The Crown

Balding of the crown, also known as the vertex area, can be a source of frustration and self-consciousness for many men. If you're struggling with this common hair loss pattern, Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) can provide an effective solution. At Scalp Doctor®️, we specialise in helping men regain their confidence by transforming balding crowns with Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP. Continue reading to discover how SMP can address balding of the crown in men and help achieve a natural-looking, fuller appearance. 1. Conceal and Blend the Balding Area: SMP works by carefully depositing pigments into the scalp to replicate the appearance of hair follicles. By matching the colour and density of your existing hair, our skilled SMP technicians can seamlessly blend the pigmented dots with your natural hair, creating the illusion of a fuller crown. The result is a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing hairline, providing a significant confidence boost. 2. Create the Appearance of Density: Balding of the crown often leads to a noticeable lack of hair density in that area. SMP can address this issue by strategically placing pigmented dots to create the illusion of density. The expert application of pigments between existing hair follicles adds depth and creates the appearance of thicker hair coverage. The outcome is a more youthful and voluminous crown, restoring a natural look. 3. Customise to Your Desired Look: At Scalp Doctor®️, we understand that each individual has unique preferences and expectations. Our SMP specialists work closely with you to customise the treatment according to your desired look. We consider factors such as hairline shape, hair colour, and skin tone to create a personalised SMP plan that best suits your individual features. Our goal is to achieve results that are natural-looking, tailored to your specific needs, and in line with your aesthetic vision. 4. Low Maintenance and Long-Lasting Results: SMP offers the advantage of low maintenance compared to other hair restoration options. Once the SMP sessions are complete, the pigmented dots require minimal upkeep. They remain intact and do not require special care or grooming routines. SMP is highly durable and resistant to fading, providing long-lasting results. Occasional touch-up sessions can be scheduled to maintain the desired appearance over time. Conclusion: If you're experiencing balding of the crown, Scalp Micropigmentation can be the solution you've been searching for. At Scalp Doctor®️, we specialise in providing exceptional SMP services that restore confidence and transform balding crowns into natural-looking, fuller hair. Say goodbye to the frustrations of a thinning crown and embrace a revitalised appearance. FUT, FUE & Scar Camouflage

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) can be an effective method to disguise scars within the hairline, including those caused by FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), or other procedures or burn scars. Here's how SMP can help: 1. Camouflage Technique: SMP employs micro-needles to deposit pigments into the skin, creating tiny dots that resemble hair follicles. By precisely applying pigments in and around the scarred areas, SMP can effectively camouflage the scars within the hairline. The pigmented dots blend seamlessly with the surrounding hair, giving the illusion of a more uniform hair density. 2. Colour Matching: Scalp Doctor® carefully select pigments that closely match the natural hair colour of the individual. By matching the colour of the pigments to the existing hair or hair follicle, the scars become less noticeable, resulting in a more harmonious and blended hairline appearance. 3. Scar Softening: SMP can help soften the appearance of scars by reducing the visual contrast between the scar tissue and surrounding skin. The pigmented dots applied within the scarred area create the impression of hair follicles, which distracts the eye from focusing on the scar itself. 4. Customisation and Artistry: Scalp Doctor® SMP practitioners have the expertise to customise the treatment to suit individual needs. They carefully analyze the scar's characteristics, such as shape, texture, and size, to design a tailored approach for optimal scar camouflage. The artistry and skill of the SMP specialist ensure a natural and seamless blend with the surrounding hairline. 5. Multiple Sessions: Depending on the severity of the scars and desired results, multiple SMP sessions may be necessary. During each session, the specialist can gradually build up the density of pigmented dots to achieve the desired camouflage effect. This approach allows for careful assessment and adjustment, resulting in a more natural outcome. It is important to consult with a qualified SMP professional such as Scalp Doctor® who has experience in scar camouflage to discuss the specific requirements of your case. They can assess the scars, provide personalised recommendations, and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs, ultimately helping you achieve a more aesthetically pleasing and harmonious look.

Alopecia

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) can be a valuable option for individuals with different types of Alopecia, a condition characterised by hair loss. Here's how SMP can help: 1. Alopecia Areata: SMP can provide camouflage for the bald patches caused by Alopecia Areata, which is characterised by sudden and unpredictable hair loss. By applying pigmented dots to the affected areas, SMP can create the appearance of hair follicles, effectively concealing the patches and providing a more natural-looking scalp. 2. Androgenetic Alopecia: Also known as pattern baldness, Androgenetic Alopecia often affects both men and women. SMP can help by simulating the appearance of thicker hair density, particularly in areas where hair has thinned or receded. By adding pigmented dots that resemble hair follicles, SMP can create the illusion of fuller, denser hair, restoring a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing look. 3. Alopecia Totalis/Universalis: These forms of Alopecia result in complete hair loss on the scalp or entire body, respectively. SMP can be an effective solution by providing a permanent cosmetic option to recreate the look of a shaved head. Pigmented dots are applied to the scalp to mimic the appearance of a closely shaved hairstyle, giving individuals with Alopecia Totalis/Universalis a natural and stylish alternative. 4. Scarring Alopecia: Some types of Alopecia, such as Cicatricial Alopecia, involve scarring and inflammation that can lead to permanent hair loss. SMP can help camouflage the scars and create the illusion of hair density within the affected areas. By carefully matching the pigment colour and strategically placing pigmented dots, SMP can minimise the visibility of scars and provide a more uniform and natural scalp appearance. 5. Individualised Approach: Each case of Alopecia is unique, and SMP treatments are tailored to the individual's specific needs and preferences. Scalp Doctor® SMP specialists work closely with clients to understand their hair loss patterns, desired outcomes, and aesthetic goals. This personalised approach ensures that SMP treatments are customised to provide the most natural and satisfactory results. It's important to consult with a qualified SMP professional such as Scalp Doctor® who are experienced in working with individuals with Alopecia. They can assess your specific condition, discuss available options, and provide expert guidance on how SMP can be used to address your unique needs.

Top Ups

At Scalp Doctor®️, we understand the importance of providing comprehensive care and long-lasting results for our clients who have undergone Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). That's why we emphasise the significance of top-up sessions to ensure the continued success of your SMP treatment. Here's why a top-up is essential for maintaining the optimal appearance of your SMP: 1. Sustaining Colour and Freshness: Over time, pigments used in SMP may naturally fade due to factors such as sun exposure, the body's natural exfoliation process, and other environmental elements. A top-up session allows us to refresh and intensify the colour, ensuring that your SMP retains its vibrancy and realism. By addressing any fading or discolouration, we maintain the freshness and natural appearance of your SMP. 2. Addressing Natural Hair Changes: As time goes by, your natural hair may undergo changes, such as greying or thinning. A top-up session provides an opportunity to adapt your SMP to these changes. Our experienced SMP specialists can adjust the colour and density of the pigments to match your evolving hair, ensuring a seamless integration between the SMP and your existing hair. 3. Maintaining a Defined Hairline: The hairline is a crucial aspect of SMP, contributing to the overall naturalness and aesthetics of the treatment. A top-up session allows us to refine and redefine your hairline, ensuring it remains sharp, well-defined, and in harmony with your facial features. This touch-up helps to maintain the precision and symmetry of your SMP hairline. 4. Longevity and Investment Protection: Regular top-up sessions help extend the longevity of your SMP, protecting the investment you have made in achieving your desired appearance. By consistently refreshing and maintaining your SMP, you can enjoy long-lasting results and avoid the need for more extensive touch-ups or complete SMP re-treatments in the future. 5. Client Satisfaction and Continued Support: At Scalp Doctor®️, we are committed to your satisfaction and ongoing support. Our top-up sessions provide an opportunity for us to assess your SMP, address any concerns or changes, and ensure that you are delighted with the results. We value your trust and strive to maintain a long-term relationship, supporting you throughout your SMP journey. We recommend scheduling top-up sessions at regular intervals, as advised by our SMP specialists, to optimise the longevity and appearance of your SMP. These sessions are an integral part of our comprehensive SMP aftercare, ensuring that your scalp maintains its natural-looking density, colour, and definition. Experience the ongoing care and commitment to excellence at Scalp Doctor®️. Contact us today to schedule a top-up session and let our dedicated team continue to enhance and maintain your SMP, providing you with a renewed sense of confidence and a flawless scalp appearance If you have previously had Scalp Micropigmentation either with us or with another provider and are now requiring a top up (refresh) we can accommodate for this too. Combining Your Hair Transplant With SMP

Not all hair transplants will give the desired effect of a thick head of hair. Some people simply don’t have enough hair in the donor area. While others may have to stop taking finasteride due to unwanted side effects and so the remaining hair will continue to fall out. This is why a lot of people come to us to ask if we can help. If you are planning to have a hair transplant then we would recommend that you have SMP procedure finished approximately 5 months prior to your hair transplant so that it will have time to settle in. This will give you the extra density for while your hair transplant is taking hold and will give a fuller look when grown to the style you want. If you have had a hair transplant already, then we recommend waiting 12 months before having an SMP procedure. This is due to the transplanted follicles needing 12 months to mature and be stable in the scalp. The added SMP impressions that we add will always add the look of more density too your hair! This is our preferred way for combination procedures. Either way SMP combined with Hair Transplants can give amazing results and we can also disguise your FUE or FUT scars too.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

This is a tough one as every person is different… Different factors come into it.

For instance, if you are out in the sun a lot or are an avid sunbed user then it may fade quicker due to the suns rays if you dont wear high factor sunscreen on your head. We automatically shed a layer of skin every 2-4 weeks so if you get sunburnt you are likely to shed more layers, hence why we say to treat your smp as an investment. You want it to last and get the most out of it!

Certain peoples immune systems also may have an effect on your SMP.

Also certain medications, All may have adverse effects on the longevity of your SMP. But generally you would expect to have a Top-Up every 1-2 years to keep your scalp looking fresh!

All  of our work comes with a one year guarantee. So should you experience abnormal fade within that time and need a top up then we will do this free of charge. Although that  hasn’t been necessary in any cases yet.
